A Day of Mourning

I spoke too soon about Sam the Goldfish. he's gone to goldfish heaven.

He served us well, our little $2.45 fish. But, the day arrived when a bird feather landed in the fishbowl and within minutes he had this weird fungal stuff on him and red spotty things.

Kirrily asked again today - "Mummy, where did Sam go. Is he OK?" What do you say to that. Those big blue eyes looking up at you. "Is he sick mummy".

Not sure if she totally understands but she asked to go to the fish shop and buy another one. This time, he's not going to be called Sam. Or Sam Jnr or Sam the 2nd. She's already named our fish we haven't bought yet as 'Jeff'. Hopefully we don't have to go through the whole of the Wiggles names too soon.

week 4, day 4 of Little School

Only one word sums up this weeks 'little school'. Disaster. I could hear Kirrily crying from the carpark when i got there to pick her up at 3.30pm. Not sobbing but all out crying. Apparently she cried all day except when she was asleep. She even told me "nasty old lady told me to quieten down i'm hurting everyone's ears". Yikes. That's Morag the replacement for Miss Trina.

However, she did say she loves little school but "she misses mummy and hayley".

Hopefully next week will improve as Miss Trina is back from Hawaii. If not, um.... any ideas? :-)

A Busy Day!

Today we packed up and headed to Twin Waters (about 30mins drive North towards Coolum and the airport) to visit Amelie & Kim, Susan & James, our old swimming buddies, for our usual fortnightly catch up. the weather was hot but very cloudy and threatening rain so i didn't take kirrily's swimmers.

We arrived and Kirrily played and played and played with the kids and had a great time. Then everyone (not me) jumped into the pool and had a swim. Kirrily not having swimmers didn't miss out. She wore Amelie's old swimmers and hat and swimmer nappy and jumped in too with Kim and Susan helping her to jump and splash and paddle. Hayley and I sat on the sidelines. After about 40mins she got a bit cold and hopped on out and they all had a fruit picnic on the table outside. James, feeling a little outnumbered being the only boy, had a 2 yr old moment. We all felt for Susan as there wasn't really much she could do but ride out the tantie and hope that he would calm down soon. he did and all was OK. I think james just likes being busy.

Hayley had very little sleep so has slept all the way home and straight into bed and hasn't said too much since, Kirrily has also taken herself to bed saying "sleepy time mummy' and she's out like a light too.

Maybe next time i might get the courage to take my swimmers too.

Haven't posted too many photo's of Hayley lately so here is one cute one that mum and dad took. She loves laughing at the red dog. Hayley has one of her own only it's green.

Being in Queensland, we can grow some awesome plants compared to what we had in Waratah. Last year we went to the ginger flower show at Yandina and bought some ginger plants. They have all popped up a few weeks ago and this one is the Siam Jewel. it's about 30cm long and about 10cm wide and absolutely beautiful. I think i'll head off to buy some more for the rest of the garden.

This is Sam. Sam the Goldfish. He was bought way back in August last year. Kirrily picked him out and he has grown a lot larger than when we first bought him home. He was named after her favourite Wiggle. I seem to be having good success with this fish. back in Newcastle we seemed to be sending the fish to fishy heaven way too often but this guy has survived 6 months already. Yeah for Sam!!!

We also had a rather uneventful day at daycare this week. Kirrily was a little upset, sobbing most of the day telling Miss Ngaire that she missed mummy and hayley's cuddles. She didn't even enjoy painting so that must be serious. although, having said that, she did ask if today was Wednesday and could she go back to little school. Being Sunday, she was a little disappointed to find out she has 3 days to wait. At least she wants to go back. Phew.

This is the first painting she did (the rest was on her pink shirt). Apparently it's car wheels dipped in purple paint. It also washes out very well from clothes. Thankfully.

Apart from that, not much has been happening. I've been making lost of birthday cards. I'd post the photo's of them on the blog but as they haven't been delivered yet, it might spoil the surprise. Maybe next time.
