More Photo's

These photo's are what were taken throughout the day by Trina and Ngaire (not good at spelling that name).

And, yes, the paint does come out of her clothes. phew.

Little School - at Pelican's Nest

If you haven't heard already, yesterday was Kirrily's first day in Day care. We told her it was Little School, "just like what Grace goes to". (Grace is the girl across the road that she adores). I think i was more worried than her. I dropped Hayley off at Mum and Dad's so i could concentrate on Kirrily's first day.

We walked into the centre, Kirrily grabbed Kristy's hand and she led her to her new classroom. Miss Trina and Miss Ngairi are her teachers. they are fantastic and Kirrily thought so too. Once Kirrily got into her room, she ran out the back with the other kids and started playing in the blue water. never mind "bye Mum i'm going to miss you", it was more like "bye mum, i'll be right playing here. see you this afternoon". i think i was more upset than her.

She's the one coming down the stairs
So i watched her play for a while, went into the room and hid in the kids bathroom area and peeped through the windows watching how she went. How did she go - GREAT!!!. so after 1/2 hr i gave her a kiss goodbye and told her i'd see her later.
By 3.30pm i went to pick her up. By 4pm, she was still in the sandpit building sandcastles. I couldn't get her out to go home. She told me all about the crunchy watermelon they ate, the toasted vegemite sandwiches, the chocolate mousse, the cold grapes and her little blue bed with yellow sheets. She can't wait to go back next week.
So the house was waaaaay quiet without the chat chat chat all day long from Kirrily. I got to catch up on some cleaning and jobs. not exciting i know but much easier to do with only Hayley around.
Here's hoping next week is just as good.

National Lampoon's Day at the Dr's

Monday, 12th January and the debarcle starts. We've all been up out of bed early as Hayley has her dr's appointment for her 2 month needles. 8.30am is the appointment time with our new dr - Joanne Hallinan.......... hang on a minute, let me take you back to last week.....

Monday, 5th January - David goes back to work after New Year. So, being a little bit lost and bored, I ring the Dr's to book in Hayley's 2 month needles. Yep, she's at that stage already. I spoke with the lovely receiptionist who asked "who does she normally see"? NOBODY!!!! She's only 2 months, i thought to myself. Anyway, I said that i see Alison and then was informed "She's now left the practice, would you like to see our new Dr?". Brilliant. that's 2 dr's we've seen and now both have left. Maybe i shouldn't see this new one as she'll be cursed too. So, yep, why not. Lets book her into the new Dr.

I was then told "oh she doesn't start til Monday next week, is that OK". Again, yes, that way i can prepare for those little tears when she gets her needles. But it wasn't that easy. I tried too book, her diary wasn't set up. I was then told to leave my number and someone would call back 'tomorrow'. Well i know things happen slower up here but tomorrow in my book isn't Thursday. I've watched enough Playschool recently to know that. Thursday is the day i rang back myself only to be informed her diary wasn't set up yet. Double brilliant. Still can't book in. Then i got the promise of "I'll phone you back" again. Uh oh, heard that before. this time Little Miss Reception did phone back. Yipppeeee. We booked in. Monday, 12th Jan at 8.30am. Done.

So back to Monday, 12th January again. We headed out of Kawana Forest, a little late. I got stuck at every red light, the roundabouts were extremely busy and just as i was approaching Golden Beach, i hear "mummy, i've done poo", then i hear BLAHHHHH "mummy, hayley has done spew". mmm.... Day not going well. I pull over to access the disaster going on in the backseat of the car. Disaster was only 2 out of 10 so we solidered on to the Dr's. We arrived, no parks. grrrr..... around the block and 2 blocks away we park. I get the double pram out, pile the tiddly winks in their seat and off we go. we run through the long grass, up the path, along the hill and reverse into the Dr's doorway and by this time i've worked up a sweat thinking "oh know i'm late i'm late".

"Appointment for Hayley at 8.30am. Sorry i'm late".

Then, there's a few looks to the left, and then the right. and then at me, then at the left and right again. "who did you book with". uh oh. this isn't sounding right. Apparently the new Dr didn't start til Tuesday (today) so i've got the wrong day i was informed. No sir-e i said. (I've since checked my notes and i was booked for monday). So after all that, there wasn't an appointment. "we'll squeeze you in. fill in this form and he'll be with you in 5 minutes". Great. We're in!!!!

an hour later, we still aren't in. Then we hear that sound we all finally wait for - our name. Off we go and into the doorway we don't go, we are too long, but we eventually fit in. so we are now late into the Dr, our apointment wasn't til the next day and we don't fit though the doors. Then the dr only asked how i was, how hayley was and made jokes with kirrily who, had since done the worst smelling poo i've ever smelt in my life. I tried to not mention it but i'm sure the Dr was being polite by not saying anything. "the nurses do the needles, they'll be with you in 5 minutes". Yeah heard that before.

so another hour in the waiting room. then we're off again. then, 1/2 for the needles. There's questions here, measurements there and by this time, kirrily is definately on the nose.

We had tears too. I don't like real baby tears. :-( After 20 seconds we were fine.

I've promised Kirrily a look at the pelican's, the massive high tide, the seaguls and even an ibis or two. But thought i wasn't going anywhere with that trail of blow flys behind me so we headed for the safe surrounds of the car boot to change her. Well she's disgraced herself all over shorts, and the new pram. (by the way, she loves the fresh fruit juice we've been making. Not giving her as much from now on). Into her change bag i go, no new shorts to put on her. Oh no. Day not going well. so i thew them all into the car after their change and headed home.

all this and all we did was needles. I got home about 11.30am after leaving around 8am.

Safely in the surrounds of my own home, i promised to sit tight and i'm sure nothing else could go wrong if i hid inside.

Phew. tuesday - 13th jan. all going well so far.

For all those wondering, which i'm sure you are.

Length - 58cm
Weight - 5.2kg
Head - 40cm around.

She was only 51cm length, 3.97kg and 31cm head when born. Growing like a champion.

and the good thing to note, we've got to do it all again for the 4 month needles. Oh boy.

Some cards

I've been finding time to make a few cards too lately. It's some sanity in this crazy household.

Hayley's Journeys

Hayley is a little adventurous when she is sleeping. I found her yesterday is the cot - 180 degree spin.

(can you see somebody peeking through the cot rails).

Ginger Man

The ginger factory is always something to fall back on if there is nothing else we can be bothered doing. Plus it's free entry and the coffee shop is across the road. Only a short 1/2 drive away up the Highway and your there. And on the weekend, so was the rest of Queensland. It was jammed packed with people.

Kirrily LOVES the ginger man so this time i promised her an edible version, with bonus 'smarty' buttons. She gobbled him up with great delight, doing what i'm sure we all did, eat his head first, then his arms, then his buttons, his body but didn't want to eat his legs so we still have those.

David bought us ginger beer (you just have to if your there) and as usually "try some" was Kirrily's response. I did tell her it's bubbly and probably a bit strong but she insisted on tasting it. You'll never guess - she didn't like it. Back to the gingerbread man.

We looked at the beautiful ginger flowers that were out and wandered around in the overcast weather with some light sprinkles.

I think i've mentioned before that Queensland are a little behind the rest of Australia (hey we just got flouride in our water last week, NSW has had it for 40 years). Even the ride on Kangaroo she was riding only cost 40c.

The ginger flower festival is on again in 2 weeks. I went last year but it seems to have only been yesterday taht it was on. A whole year gone already!!!! Crickey. (sorry it's catching up here).

Not sure what this one is called but the plant was huge and this flower is about 40cm long.

Then, after our journey's we headed home. The girls were pretty tired so they both had a rest in the Barbie lounge.

How to make $50 in 5 minutes!

Well i've just had my 6 week check up after having Hayley. It's actually 8 weeks but Christmas has thrown everyone's schedules out. So I headed off to the obstetrician for my 10am appointment. when i got there, he's running 1 hr late. Great!!! Just what i needed. Then, i finally got to see the Dr. He didn't check my scar, he didn't check my blood pressure, he just asked how I was going and how Hayley was sleeping. So 5 minutes cost me $50.

So if your thinking of making fast $$$, i guess that's how. although i guess it does take years and many more $$$ to become such a qualified Dr. slight flaw in my plan. :-)

05 January 2009

Saturday was pouring with lovely rain glorious rain. We haven't seen rain for a while so i was excited. It's also great as i can now could my millimetres in my new rainguage. We decided to head to Spotlight to buy some more timber blinds for Hayley's room, Kirrily's room and the study to get rid of our rather unattractive verticle drapes. We got there in the pouring rain, ran inside and to my surprise, they had the sizes we needed for our windows. then came the interesting part. we were all packed safely in the car, blinds included (just) and then we headed home. Now Qld drivers are pretty dodgy but i soon discovered just how dodgy. An old man who obviously had no vision, reveresed out at full speed just as i was behind him. I honked and honked my horn and he must have missed my car my millimetres. Never mind 'sorry i didn't look' or 'sorry' at all, he just waved and laughed and drove off. I think i must have an idiot magnet attached to my car somewhere as i seem to find all the crazy drivers when i'm out. Glad he missed though. he would have got all 3 panels of the passenger side of the car had he got me.

And yesterday didn't start well either. David suggested we go out for breakfast for a change. Yummo. he then decided at the last minute that I should make some food for Hayley, which also means preparing a thermos of boiling water to heat her bottle while we have no portable microwave.

Water boiled, pouring it into the thermos and OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I poured it all over my thumb and hand. Lucky for me it was not quite boiled or i would have been double ouch. I have a lovely red mark of running water down my hand now.

Kirrily found it rather funny. she kept saying "mummy hurt her hand. She went ahhhhhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh". She is still laughing today. :-)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Christmas seems like so many moons ago already. We seem to be doing so much in a day lately. With 5 x feeds, umpteen nappy changes between Kirrily and Hayley and now Kirrily is also toilet training. No time for resting.
This year Christmas was boiling hot and humid. we had planned on celebrating outside again in our entertaining area but we instead moved the outdoors table indoors and sat with the air-conditioning on nice and cool. I opted not to cook but in the end did. We had fresh leg ham, lovely bbq chicken from the Chicken Spot (thanks Steve for opening on Christmas Day) and some last minute throw together pork marinated in a last minute throw together marinade. We were having lamb but the truck heading to the butchers didn't arrive and they had no lamb. Not to worry, the pork was AAA delicous anyway. I also had yummo potato's and some serously delicous pumpkin.
Kirrily got many many many presents and Hayley wasn't far behind. we now have plenty of goodies including toys, books, swimmers, tea set, clothes and of course - Mr Potato Head. Kirrily loves putting his hands in his eye spot, the arms in the head and many other silly spots.

New Year's was spent just as we did last year - I went to bed at 9pm, David stayed up and watched the shocking fireworks footage that Channel 10 had then he went to bed. Only difference this year was we got up again at 3am to feed Hayley, were we didn't have to feed anyone last year. :-) Pretty uneventful really. The neighbours appeared to have just as much fun as there was no noise or anything at midnight.
Since Christmas we've put in some new sprinkler systems in our new gardens and done little else. It's too hot for painting the house or too windy.

David is back to work tomorrow so back to keeping a 2 yr old and a baby entertained. Looks like lots of walks for me. I mighjt even have more time for blogging.
