The ginger factory is always something to fall back on if there is nothing else we can be bothered doing. Plus it's free entry and the coffee shop is across the road. Only a short 1/2 drive away up the Highway and your there. And on the weekend, so was the rest of Queensland. It was jammed packed with people.
Kirrily LOVES the ginger man so this time i promised her an edible version, with bonus 'smarty' buttons. She gobbled him up with great delight, doing what i'm sure we all did, eat his head first, then his arms, then his buttons, his body but didn't want to eat his legs so we still have those.
David bought us ginger beer (you just have to if your there) and as usually "try some" was Kirrily's response. I did tell her it's bubbly and probably a bit strong but she insisted on tasting it. You'll never guess - she didn't like it. Back to the gingerbread man.
We looked at the beautiful ginger flowers that were out and wandered around in the overcast weather with some light sprinkles.
I think i've mentioned before that Queensland are a little behind the rest of Australia (hey we just got flouride in our water last week, NSW has had it for 40 years). Even the ride on Kangaroo she was riding only cost 40c.
The ginger flower festival is on again in 2 weeks. I went last year but it seems to have only been yesterday taht it was on. A whole year gone already!!!! Crickey. (sorry it's catching up here).
Not sure what this one is called but the plant was huge and this flower is about 40cm long.
Then, after our journey's we headed home. The girls were pretty tired so they both had a rest in the Barbie lounge.
