Our weekend outing to Noosa and Mooloolaba

The weather on the weekend was absolutely perfect. 30 deg and not a cloud to be seen so we headed to Noosa Heads. We had our entertainment book vouchers with us and didn't want to waste our Norgenvaaz Ice-Cream voucher so our mission was set - we must eat ice-cream.

We parked, wandered around, wandered some more (you don't think we could afford to buy anything in Hastings Street do you? :-) ) and then had some lunch. after that we had to cool down with our ice-cream. I managed to eat at least a 1/4 of it. Most went to a hungry little 2 yr old "don't forget me mummy. i want some more yummy ice-cream".

Not sure how much you've seen on the news or heard but the oil slick has managed to leave Noosa untouched (lucky) but the cyclone had already done plenty of damage. Noosa Main Beach is now about 5m long by about 1 m wide. The Noosa Festival of Surfing was on and everyone was squeezing in whereever they could. The rest of the beach is out to sea somewhere as the waves were relentless. Big Bob (the mayor) is hopefully going to get some beach back soon.

It was a perfect day for all.

Then, we headed home but with the weather being soooo nice, we just couldn't bear to come back. We stopped at Mooloolaba Spit and wandered some more. Right out the end, the footpath has been washed onto the beach as have most of the trees. It's a darn shame to see so much destruction out there. Thanks again to Cyclone Hamish.

Pooped, hungry and sticky (a soft drink exploded on me when i opened it so i looked like i'd wet myself) we headed home.

What a perfect weekend. Here's cheers for some more like that.

Am I Still Dreaming?

Monday.... boring. Not really too keen on Monday's. So, as usual, i started my day with a trip to the bathroom to find - NOT AGAIN!!! Another Green Frog. I think it was the same frog as on Saturday as he was just as big. And Yes, i did have a big girlie squeal.

David put the plastic gloves on, again and caught him in the Vaalia container. this time i managed a few dodgy photo's as i don't think people would believe me that i found a frog twice in 3 days.

He's a big one!!!!

When Dreams become Reality!!

Have you ever had one of those dreams - you catch the school bus in your PJ's, your teeth are falling out or worse still, you went to school NUDE!!!! How about the dream where you find something horrible in the toilet (no not that), something like A GREEN FROG!!!!!

Dream no longer people - I wasn't actually dreaming. After several times pinching myself, I was awake.

the day started fairly early thanks to Des' birds squarking their little beaks off out the back avery. 6am actually. well it's early for me anyway. So, half dazed, i headed to the loo. I can't imagine what made me do it but i actually looked into the bowl before i sat down. I NEVER do that and still to this minute don't understand why i did. so i looked in and there it was. The biggest Green Frog I've seen since we moved here was half way between the seat and the water. I startled him, and he certainly startled me so he pushed backwards into the water. I quickly slammed the lid shut yelling "THERE'S A FROG IN THE TOILET, A FROG, A FROG". David thought i was going loopy and jsut laughed at me. This is no joking matter, i thought to myself, imagine if he hopped at me while i was quietly sitting pondering.

As for Kirrily, well the No. 2 frog lover in the world, after Bindii Irwin, just thought it was great to have a bonus pet in the toilet.

David put on the plastic surgical looking gloves, grabbed a chinese container and (by this point i still thought i was loopy) went to takle the frog. Scooped him up and carefully took him to safer surroundings.

Photo's you ask. well I would have but i had to duck to the other toilet for that nervous wee. Not every day you find something like that in the toilet.

I wonder what tomorrow brings.............

21 March - Qld election

Well if it wasn't bad enough having to vote for either Donkey 1 or Donkey 2 ("The Borgsta", aka Lawrence Springborg or "Captain Bligh", aka Anna Bligh who i think is running a sinking ship), now we have this to worry about:

Picture and story taken from the Courier Mail

IT could be game on for Pauline Hanson as former AFL star Warwick Capper looks set to run against her in the Queensland election. The former Sydney Swans full forward, who lives in Surfers Paradise, will also contest the Gold Coast hinterland seat of Beaudesert at the March 21 election

So it's Warwick V's Pauline. Oh boy. Lucky for us, we get to vote in the seat of Kawana and not Beaudesert. Phew.
